Koru AI shows its reasoning, and the Mac catches up two weeks
- Koru AI can show a model's reasoning as it thinks, in a drawer that folds away when the answer arrives. A lightbulb on the composer turns it on for the next message.
- AI setup offers a Koru AI card for a free hosted model. In this build the card is present but not connected to a service, so it cannot answer yet.
- A crash while connecting a Profile to an account no longer stops Koru from starting, the runs list no longer stalls behind another run's save, and a message sent in an AI tab with no document attached no longer sits unsent.
- On a Mac this is the first nightly since 1 September, and it carries everything the Windows nightlies gained in between: split views, the AI tab, sign-in and reminders, and delegated and scheduled agent work.

Compare two versions and read the difference
- Comparing two document versions now opens a real diff — additions and removals tinted, edits highlighted word by word — instead of a one-line count.
- Ctrl+S saves a snapshot of your document under a name of your choosing, and that name follows the version everywhere it is listed.
- The version list scrolls, so long histories no longer push the Save and Compare buttons out of reach.

Koru opens on a Mac again, and both phones speak all eight languages

- Everything runs locally. Voice setup asks first, downloads about 530 MB of speech models once, and after that no audio, transcript, or microphone name ever leaves your machine — not even into Koru's own telemetry.
- Two quality tiers with an honest difference: Compact writes its text when you release the key, High accuracy revises it while you are still speaking.

Koru gains a terminal, and Codex runs inside it
- Koru now has a terminal of its own — one window, many sessions — running PowerShell, cmd, Bash, or an agent CLI like Claude, Codex, OpenCode, Grok or Kimi.
- Sessions outlive their window. Close it and the process keeps running; open it again and you are back where you were, because sessions live in a supervised process of their own rather than inside the app.
- Codex can run as a structured session rather than a screenful of text: a transcript with tool progress, approvals you answer from the keyboard, token usage, and a cancel that stops the turn you meant.
- A CLI's box borders finally meet. Terminal line art is drawn as geometry on the pixel grid instead of font outlines, so corners join at every theme, zoom and DPI.

Koru gains an assistant, and every block can carry a due date
- Koru now has an AI chat — in its own window or beside your workspace — with OpenAI and local Ollama models, web search with citations you can click, and tools that read only the workspaces you allow.
- Any block can carry a due date, tags, a colour and a priority. Type /due friday or #marketing on a line, and click the chip it leaves behind to change or remove it.
- Search understands those attributes rather than the text they happen to render as: type / in the search box to filter by due date, priority or anything your workspace defines, and # completes your own tags as you type.
- Notion exports import as a nested tree with the links between pages intact, and file attachments finally open, reveal and save from their menus.

A search index that was writing a terabyte an hour has stopped
- Koru's background search indexer could get stuck on documents it is unable to index, retrying them forever. On the machine this was found on it was writing about 327 MB every second to disk on an otherwise idle computer — roughly a terabyte an hour — and saying nothing about it.
- Those documents are not lost, but they are still unreachable in the app. This build stops the retry loop, counts them, and adds a report that lists them so they can be looked at.
- Opening find on a document no longer covers the page-settings button in the top-right corner — a button that was not just hidden but unclickable.
- A computer that restarts now rejoins its linked devices immediately, instead of being turned away by its own stale connection for several minutes.

A housekeeping build — nothing on screen has moved
- Nothing in this build changes what Koru does or how it looks. Both changes since the last nightly are to the repository itself: a developer-only marker on windows built from a working tree, and a repair to the project's own build script.

Your open pages stay open when you switch workspace
- Switching workspace no longer clears the pages you had open. The tab strip belongs to the window now, not to the workspace.
- Right-click a tab and choose Reveal in Explore View to find that document in the workspace it actually lives in — even if you opened it from somewhere else.
- Selecting several documents in Explore and choosing Open in new tabs now opens all of them, not just one; Open in a new window puts the whole selection in a single window.

Updates install even while an AI assistant is connected
- Installing an update now succeeds while an AI assistant (Claude Desktop, Codex, or any MCP client) is connected to Koru.

A missing image says who has it
- A page waiting for an image now names the device that has it — "It will appear when the device Studio holding it is online, or any other peer with a copy."
- That name survives a restart, so a freshly started machine still knows who it is waiting for even while every other device is offline.

The stall is convicted
- Nothing in the app changed in this build — it carries the verdict: the minutes-long freeze before an update installs was finally caught in the act, photographed mid-block, and traced to its exact cause.
- The agent was flushing a test file to a busy hard disk on its main loop every time it reported update status — the freeze was the disk catching up, which is why every stall began right after a download and released on its own.
- Until the fix ships: if the banner says the agent did not answer, wait — every stall so far has released by itself and the install has completed.

The watchman is on duty; the ledger catches up

The watchman has to get in the door
- Nothing in the app changed in this build — it exists so the stall-instrumented agent gets another chance to install, after the last attempt was swallowed by the very stall it instruments.
- The evening's third freeze was traced end to end: the blocked agent also ate the install handoff, which is why every window closed and then nothing happened.
- If Koru says it cannot reach the store right after an update attempt, just launch it again — the relaunch was racing the gateway restart, and lost by a quarter of a second.

- A build that downloaded and verified is now offered again instead of quietly reading as "up to date" — and it is offered the moment Koru starts, with no network needed.

- Cancelling that close leaves the update on the table rather than shelving the build until a newer one appears.

Settings gets a tab, and a document pill opens where you point it
- The top-right is minimize, maximize and close again, with a `…` menu beside them for Always on Top, Settings and Updates — no more button that turns into a close ✕ while its own menu is open.
- Settings is its own tab on `Ctrl+,`: theme, caret, page layout, typography and pinned-tab defaults moved there, and Welcome went back to being the place you navigate from.
- Click a document reference to follow it in the tab you are reading; `Ctrl+click` opens it beside you without leaving, `Shift+click` opens a new window, and right-click offers all three.
- Workspace and profile switching are one control now — `Ctrl+Alt+W` and `Ctrl+Alt+P` — and a profile can be renamed and given an emoji and colour that reaches your linked phone.

- Right-click a document tab to pin it: pinned pages sit on the left, stay put when you switch workspace, and Ctrl+W leaves them alone.
- Installing an update now opens a small progress window after Koru closes, instead of appearing to stop at a greyed-out banner.
- A picture whose bytes are still on another device now says so and fills itself in when that device comes back, instead of drawing an empty grey box.

- Search no longer lists documents that live inside a binned one, and emptying the trash really removes them from results.
- Bullets, numbers and checklists keep their markers when you indent or outdent them together, and one list button in the formatting bubble shows which style is active.
- Every linked device now shows its version and how it is connected, and a device too far behind says so on its row instead of failing halfway through a sync.
- Document history reads "5 min ago" in your language, shows the exact moment on hover, and lists the checkpoints that long-edited documents now actually earn.

Search moves into Explore, and the keyboard learns paragraphs
- Search now lives at the top of the Explore pane, and Ctrl+Space widens a workspace search to the whole profile without retyping it.
- Ctrl+Up and Ctrl+Down move by paragraph; Alt+Up and Alt+Down jump between the page title and where you were writing.
- Opening a picture that lives only on a device that is offline shows a quiet notice instead of hanging or raising an error.

A second device fills in, and the taskbar menu works
- A workspace that stayed empty on a newly linked device now fills in — large documents travel in pieces, and a stuck sync names itself in the log.
- Right-click Koru in the taskbar: Search opens the global overlay, Recents lists every document you opened lately, and pinned documents open without a console flash.
- Switching windows with Alt+Tab no longer indents the paragraph under your caret.
- Delete in an empty block removes that block and leaves the one below exactly as it was — a heading stays a heading, a task keeps its checkbox.

Send a selection somewhere else, and know which build you are looking at
- Select some writing and type @ to move it to another document — or a brand-new one — leaving a link pill behind where it was.
- Every release channel now wears its own color on the icon, so a nightly no longer impersonates stable in the tray and taskbar.

- Every document now keeps a version history: Koru saves versions as you work, and the History panel compares and restores them.
- An AI assistant can read, edit and create your documents through the new koru-mcp bridge that ships in the zip.

- Copying more than one row inside Koru no longer arrives as plain text — marks, pills, checkboxes and list styles survive the paste again.

- An inline document link takes the size of the text around it, so one in a title is title-sized rather than body-sized.
- Three things the last nightly's notes described are actually in this build: the tray can start Koru, updates check on each channel's own clock, and the install question no longer repeats the release notes.

Documents can move

Documents can leave Koru
- Right-click a document in the sidebar and choose Export > Markdown; a multi-selection writes one file each.
- When an export finishes, the toast's Show reveals the file in File Explorer or Finder.
- A toast no longer vanishes while your pointer is resting on it, and a long path wraps instead of being clipped.
- The window can be made narrower than before.

Find and replace arrives, and search stops opening new windows
