Every build, newest first
Releases
Koru ships from three channels. Stable is the one to install if you want it to sit still; beta and nightly are where things land first.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260823nightlyWindows23 ago 2026
Your other devices stop being a spinner
- A linked device now shows when it last synced and, when you open it, exactly what it changed — on the desktop, Android and iPhone.
- A picture that has not arrived yet names the device holding it, and Koru asks that device first instead of trying everyone in turn.
- Clicking a document in the sidebar opens it in the tab you are already using instead of stacking up another one.
- TypeScript code blocks are coloured like every other language, and the language dropdown behaves like a menu again.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260822nightlyWindows22 ago 2026
The notes a release shipped with are now kept
- Publishing a release now records the notes it published, so the prose behind a release page is readable by anyone and not only by the machine that shipped it.
- No change to Koru itself: this nightly is the release tooling, and everything in the build behaves as it did yesterday.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260822nightlyWindows22 ago 2026
An update that downloaded is an update you can install
- A build that downloaded and verified is now offered again instead of quietly reading as "up to date" — and it is offered the moment Koru starts, with no network needed.
- Closing for an update no longer stops on a question about work that was already safe on this computer; you are only asked when something could genuinely be lost.
- Cancelling that close leaves the update on the table rather than shelving the build until a newer one appears.
- Each channel now keeps its own update cache, and Koru keeps only the two newest downloaded packages instead of every one it has ever fetched.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260822nightlyWindows22 ago 2026
Settings gets a tab, and a document pill opens where you point it
- The top-right is minimize, maximize and close again, with a `…` menu beside them for Always on Top, Settings and Updates — no more button that turns into a close ✕ while its own menu is open.
- Settings is its own tab on `Ctrl+,`: theme, caret, page layout, typography and pinned-tab defaults moved there, and Welcome went back to being the place you navigate from.
- Click a document reference to follow it in the tab you are reading; `Ctrl+click` opens it beside you without leaving, `Shift+click` opens a new window, and right-click offers all three.
- Workspace and profile switching are one control now — `Ctrl+Alt+W` and `Ctrl+Alt+P` — and a profile can be renamed and given an emoji and colour that reaches your linked phone.
- A page whose workspace had changed underneath it could not be opened at all; the Store now repairs the stale route instead of reporting the document unavailable.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260821nightlyWindows21 ago 2026
Koru stays connected for days, and every release is finally listed somewhere
- A window left open overnight keeps working: Koru now renews its own Store credential instead of quietly expiring.
- https://updates.koru.do/releases/ lists every release on all three channels, newest first — the only way to see what shipped now that downloading is how you change channel.
- Linked devices stopped exchanging trust records once a phone had built up enough of them; a batch now fits down the wire, and a failure says so instead of retrying forever.
- A phone and a desktop on the same release no longer show as a version apart, and Koru waits for its Store on a cold first launch instead of giving up on the first try.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260821nightlymacOS21 ago 2026
One version on every device, and a Koru that stays signed in
- Koru, its background helper and search stay connected to the Store for days instead of being signed out partway through a long session.
- A first launch waits for the Store to come up rather than reporting it unreachable a fraction of a second too early.
- On a Mac, Koru arrives as a signed and notarized disk image, updates in place, and is offered an update even with no window open.
- Every release is listed at updates.koru.do/releases/, and an update installs when Koru is set to stay in the tray.

One version on every device, and a Koru that stays signed in
- Koru, its background helper and search stay connected to the Store for days instead of being signed out partway through a long session.

Pin the pages you keep coming back to, and an update that shows its work
- Right-click a document tab to pin it: pinned pages sit on the left, stay put when you switch workspace, and Ctrl+W leaves them alone.
- Installing an update now opens a small progress window after Koru closes, instead of appearing to stop at a greyed-out banner.
- A picture whose bytes are still on another device now says so and fills itself in when that device comes back, instead of drawing an empty grey box.
- Tab and Shift+Tab inside a checklist indent and outdent by one level again.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260820nightlyWindows20 ago 2026
Search tells the truth, lists keep their shape, and a device says what it runs
- Search no longer lists documents that live inside a binned one, and emptying the trash really removes them from results.
- Bullets, numbers and checklists keep their markers when you indent or outdent them together, and one list button in the formatting bubble shows which style is active.
- Every linked device now shows its version and how it is connected, and a device too far behind says so on its row instead of failing halfway through a sync.
- Document history reads "5 min ago" in your language, shows the exact moment on hover, and lists the checkpoints that long-edited documents now actually earn.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260820nightlyWindows20 ago 2026
Search moves into Explore, and the keyboard learns paragraphs
- Search now lives at the top of the Explore pane, and Ctrl+Space widens a workspace search to the whole profile without retyping it.
- Ctrl+Up and Ctrl+Down move by paragraph; Alt+Up and Alt+Down jump between the page title and where you were writing.
- Opening a picture that lives only on a device that is offline shows a quiet notice instead of hanging or raising an error.
- The new default chrome and heading fonts now actually appear on existing installs — a font you chose yourself is kept.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260820nightlyWindows20 ago 2026
A second device fills in, and the taskbar menu works
- A workspace that stayed empty on a newly linked device now fills in — large documents travel in pieces, and a stuck sync names itself in the log.
- Right-click Koru in the taskbar: Search opens the global overlay, Recents lists every document you opened lately, and pinned documents open without a console flash.
- Switching windows with Alt+Tab no longer indents the paragraph under your caret.
- Delete in an empty block removes that block and leaves the one below exactly as it was — a heading stays a heading, a task keeps its checkbox.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260819nightlyWindows19 ago 2026
Send a selection somewhere else, and know which build you are looking at
- Select some writing and type @ to move it to another document — or a brand-new one — leaving a link pill behind where it was.
- Every release channel now wears its own color on the icon, so a nightly no longer impersonates stable in the tray and taskbar.
- Closing the tab you are in returns to the tab you were in before, the way a browser does.
- Renaming or binning one document no longer blanks the link pills pointing at all the others.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260819nightlyWindows19 ago 2026
Your notes move in, and your documents remember
- Import your notes — Markdown, TextBundle, whole OneNote notebooks — or drop any file into a workspace, where it lives beside your documents.
- Every document now keeps a version history: Koru saves versions as you work, and the History panel compares and restores them.
- An AI assistant can read, edit and create your documents through the new koru-mcp bridge that ships in the zip.
- Type @ then # to link to a heading inside a page, and koru:// links from a browser open the right document in the right window.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260816nightlyWindows16 ago 2026
Copying keeps its shape, and the tray can start Koru
- Copying more than one row inside Koru no longer arrives as plain text — marks, pills, checkboxes and list styles survive the paste again.
- A nested list copied *out* of Koru stays nested in the app you paste it into.
- An inline document link takes the size of the text around it, so one in a title is title-sized rather than body-sized.
- Three things the last nightly's notes described are actually in this build: the tray can start Koru, updates check on each channel's own clock, and the install question no longer repeats the release notes.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260816nightlyWindows16 ago 2026
Documents can move
- Move to… (Ctrl+M, or the explore menu) reparents a document — into another folder, or into a different workspace in your profile.
- Inline document links read as text now rather than as chips, with a small icon and an underline when you point at them.
- Pasting a nested list keeps its nesting instead of flattening it.
- Nightly looks for a new build every hour, so a release no longer waits a day to be offered.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260816nightlyWindows16 ago 2026
Documents can leave Koru
- Right-click a document in the sidebar and choose Export > Markdown; a multi-selection writes one file each.
- When an export finishes, the toast's Show reveals the file in File Explorer or Finder.
- A toast no longer vanishes while your pointer is resting on it, and a long path wraps instead of being clipped.
- The window can be made narrower than before.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260816nightlyWindows16 ago 2026
Find and replace arrives, and search stops opening new windows
- Press Ctrl+F to find text in the page you are on, and Ctrl+H to replace it.
- A search result now opens in the window you already have, instead of starting another one.
- Formatting applies to every block you have selected, not only the last one.
- Undo after pressing Enter puts the caret back where you split the line.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260815nightlyWindows15 ago 2026
Your work moves into the Koru Store — and Koru learns to update itself
- Your work now lives in the Koru Store, and an older workspace can be imported into it.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+K anywhere to search every workspace, even with no Koru window open.
- Write tables and quotes, and link to another page by typing @.
- Koru offers you an update and installs it, asking before it downloads and again before it installs.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260808nightlyWindows8 ago 2026
Everyday editing, tidied up — and a build that says how old it is
- Dragging a selection backwards now selects what you dragged over.
- A new page appears beside the one you were on, not at the bottom of the library.
- Cutting a picture puts it on the clipboard, so it can be pasted into another app.
- The welcome page says when your build was released — or, for one you compiled, when it was built.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260808nightlyWindows8 ago 2026
A dark theme, a title bar that explains itself, and no more dropped keystrokes
- Koru follows your Windows light/dark setting, or you can pin Light or Dark on the welcome page.
- The four unlabelled icons in the corner are now one menu that names every action and its shortcut.
- Typing straight after pressing End no longer swallows the character — or crashes the window.
- Tabs scroll when they run out of room, and the one you are on is always brought into view.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260806nightlyWindows6 ago 2026
Delete a document, and take it back
- Documents can now be deleted — they go to the Trash instead of disappearing.
- The Trash lives at the foot of the sidebar: restore anything, or empty it when you mean it.
- If somebody else bins a page you have open, your tab stays open and your unsaved work stays with it.
- Pills sitting next to an image no longer overlap it.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260806nightlyWindows6 ago 2026
A blank page that starts with its name
- A new tab opens on an empty title with the caret already in it — just type the name.
- Start a title with an emoji and it becomes the page's icon in the sidebar and its tab.
- Snapped windows keep their drop shadow and rounded corners.
- The tray icon no longer disappears after an update.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260805nightlyWindows5 ago 2026
Workspaces you can manage
- Rename, recolour, pin, export and delete workspaces — deleted ones go to the trash for 30 days.
- Ctrl+Shift+O opens a workspace manager with counts, size and location.
- The explore sidebar lists documents only, and drags to any width you like.
- Alt+Left and Alt+Right step back and forward through where you have been.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260805nightlyWindows5 ago 2026
A better-shaped caret
- The caret now covers descenders instead of stopping short of them.
- 0.0.3-nightly.20260805nightlyWindows5 ago 2026
First cloud release
- Documents show their chrome only when you need it.
- Drag to move and reorder items in the explore sidebar.
- A new type system: font roles, a proper scale, and density.
- One profile is one folder — the data-dir concept is gone.
